Winter 2012 CLASSES*


Winter is still here, and our  schedule of classes are continuing, and hoping for a real Spring to arrive soon.  The two additional classes  in the Learn to Knit series- Next Steps and Beyond have proven to be very popular. Each month we will offer the series. Along with the Learn to Knit series there are classes on Continental Knitting,  Crochet & crochet extended, and Brioche , Lace, along with the return of Guaranteed Fit and Adult Fiber Camp.


Don't forget that from 5 - 8 pm every Thursday is Social Knitting where there is good camaraderie and help if you need it. Mini lessons are $5 if needed. In addition, you can come in on Saturday from 10 - 3 to knit with us, too.

Learn to Knit

Our Learn to Knit class is for those who want to pick up knitting again after a long lay-off or for absolute beginners.  After 3-90 minute classes you will have mastered all the fundamentals and completed a fun, felted tote bag. $40+ materials

Wednesday - March 7, 14 & 28th - 9:30 AM  - or - 6:00 PM

Learn to Knit - Next Steps

The second class in the LTK series will have you extending your knitting in the round to a hat and/or mittens. This class is designed for beginning or returning knitters that have completed the Learn to Knit class and want to continue learning new skills in a class setting. You will be using a smaller knit gauge and learn to knit on double point needles. Cost of the class is $40, plus materials.

Learn to Knit - and Beyond

The third class in the LTK series will have you extending your knitting to a flat garment. This class will take you through the process of knitting your first vest (no sleeves, makes it quicker to finish). This class is designed for returning knitters that have completed the Learn to Knit and LTK Next Steps class and want to continue learning new skills in a class setting. Easy patterns will be suggested for your class project. Cost of the class is $40, plus materials.

Monday, March 5, 12 & 19  - 9:30 AM or 6;00 PM


Lace
This is a progressive six-week class that builds your lace skills. You will be a pro in no time at all. Class 1 begins with the Basics from Yarn & Needle selection to reading charts. Week 2 & 3 covers Design Elements, Week 4 Lace in the Round, Week 5 Fixing errors, and Week 6 Edges and Finishing.

Learn to Crochet
This one session class will cover the basics, specially designed for those that have never held a crochet needle before.
Basic stitches will be covered, crochet chain, sigle crochet, half-double, and double crochet. Cost of the class is $15.00 for this 1 1/2 hour class.

Learn to Crochet - Extended
This class is built for knitters who want to learn basic crochet edgings, or for crochets who wnat to steip beyond the basic crochet stitches. Bring at least 3 knitted or crocheted squares (at least 4 X 4) and used the edges of your squares to learn picot, shell, crab and other edgings.
Monday, March 12 & 19

Cost is $30 plus materials.


GUARANTEED FIT WORKSHOP
Yes, we will guarantee the fit of your next garment.  The first day you will be measured and we will make suggestions on picking your pattern and yarn. We will help you create your perfect-fitting garment from beginning to end. Cost:  $75 plus The New Knitter's Template ($24.95 available at Clever Ewe), plus materials for your garment.

Next Guaranteed Fit Workshop is will in offered in April 2012 at
9:30 A.M. OR 6:00 P.M. As you work through your garment you will arrange for individual help.


FIBER CAMP FOR ADULTS 
This is a must take class for all levels of knitting! We will learn a little about sheep in each of the four classes. Week One will be cast ons, correcting mistakes, how to cable and charts. Week Two will cover increasing and decreasing - when, why, how - slipping rules and picking up stitches. Week Three we will focus on gauge, buttons and buttonholes and connecting yarn. Week Four is only available to those who attend all of the previous three classes. We will be dying yarn! Space is limited so don't delay in signing up. There is a little bit of homework that must be completed before the first class.  Cost of class is $35  
9: 30  - Thursday, March 8, 15 & 22                                                                                                                 

Ewe Knitting is now available 4 mornings a week! Monday through Thursday from 9:30 - 11. This is NOT a drop-in class so we still need you to call a day in advance. Evening Ewe Knitting is still available by request 24 hour in advance.
EWE KNIT

This class is for anyone who needs help with a project.  You will receive individual attention to your project while hearing the "problems" of others in the class being addressed.  Ewe Knitting is structured to fit into your schedule - you can come every week, every other week, or whenever your schedule allows. No project is too small or too large.Even if you aren't working on the same project as someone else, you might want to "listen in" for a future project!
  There are only 2 rules:
1) you must have purchased the yarn at Clever Ewe and
2) you need to make a reservation 24 hours in advance (so that we have enough staff present to help).
To attend a Ewe Knit session purchase a Ewe Knit Punch Card for $50, and that will entitle you to 6 visits, with no expiration date.
 

 


Blanket Bingo
Saturday,  November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11
9:00 - 10:30 AM


In the mood to make an afghan, and learn new stitch techniques at the same time? Blanket Bingo is the class for you. Each month, on the second Saturday of the month, a new square will be presented and starting at 9:00AM you will be helped in the construction of the square. Stop into Clever Ewe to look at the first couple of squares and see the book that the patterns will be taken from. Materials needed for the course are DK (the examples are made from CEY Wool Bamboo) or a worsted weight yarn if you wish the squares to be bigger. The book needed for the class is 100 Afghan Squares by Debbie Arbraham available at Clever Ewe.

Cost - $10/ class or 6 classes for $50.00 and you may join at any time.



 

Friendship Blanket  - Knit

This is the project to knit in a group, because you will need the help of your friends to make the combination of yarns that make this blanket so distinct. Learn the basics in this first class and then join in the group and return once a month for a group knit, to socialize and exchange yarns. The Getting Started class may be taken any Tuesday that the Friendship group is meeting. Cost of the Getting Started instruction and kit is $25. Kit includes pattern and enough yarn for completing 3 squares. If you have already started a Friendship Blanket and want some friends to knit with, come join us, no cost.

Third Tuesday of the Month    February 21 & March 20 -  6:00 - 7:30 PM are the next 2 months dates.

*Please note: Class fees are due upon registration. Registration must be made at least 24 hrs. prior to the event. 48 hours notice required for cancellation refunds. Gift certificates will be issued in lieu of a refund on class fees. All materials for classes must be purchased at Clever Ewe before class.

Classes are usually 90 minutes of instruction.  We try to begin and end on time, so please have all materials purchased and ready when class begins.  All materials must be purchased from Clever Ewe.
